Australia travel tips and information

Australia, our home country and a place that we adore.  There's something unique about Aussies.  Australia is blessed with a relaxed environment and attitude and a casual lifestyle.  Australians love a good joke, love sport and love to travel.

Australia is great for travelling too.  With some of the best beaches in the world, the Great Barrier Reef, mountains, snow, the Outback and the rainforests, there's not much the country doesn't have.

You can swim, ski, snorkel and dive.  Go bareboating, 4WD'g flying, fishing and hiking.  Drive through the desert, visit a wine region or cuddle a koala.

Australia is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations and it's also the new home of many people from all over the world who are attracted by this amazing country.

States of Australia: Queensland (QLD), New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC), South Australia (SA), Western Australia (WA), Tasmania (TAS), Northern Territory (NT)

FAST FACTS

Must-do: Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, Gold Coast, Cairns, Daintree, all capital cities, Barossa Valley, Hunter Valley, Margaret River, Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island, road trips (anywhere), the Outback, Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Australia is a geographically diverse country that is very spread out.  Getting anywhere by road takes a while.  Don't underestimate the amount of time needed to see this country properly.  A few weeks is not enough to see all the major destinations.

How to get to Australia:  It's a well-known fact that Australia is far away from most of the world's locations.  Flying is the most efficient way. Check out Skyscanner for flights and availability.

Trains are used in some states but are not a common form of transport in Australia.

Australia is a road trippers paradise and driving in the major cities is easy also.  Driving cars, motorhomes and campervans is a rite of passage around the country.

Electricity: Australia used the I plug.  Voltage is 230 volt and 50 Hz.  Universal adaptors are the best way of handling different electrical outputs.

Currency: The Australian Dollar.  AUD$, $.  Cash is still used in Australia, particularly in small, rural towns but Australia is increasingly becoming a cashless society.  All major credit cards can be used here and contactless payments are leading the way.
